Vivo X100s Review: A Powerful Performance Phone

The vivo X100s is an upcoming flagship smartphone from Chinese manufacturer vivo that is set for release in May 2024. Based on the specs revealed on GSM Arena, this looks to be a compelling performance-oriented device.

Design and Display

The vivo X100s has a large 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1260×2800 and a high refresh rate of 120Hz. This should provide sharp, vibrant visuals. The body is made from glass and aluminum with an IP68/IP69 dust and water-resistant design. At 203g, it has a slim profile of just 7.8mm.

Under the hood, the vivo X100s is powered by the powerful new MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset built on a 4nm process. It has impressive specs including an octa-core CPU with one high-performance Cortex-X4 core clocked up to 3.4GHz. Graphics are handled by the Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU.

Memory and Storage

Memory configurations include 12/16GB of fast LPDDR5X RAM and storage options of 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. However, there is no microSD card slot for expandable storage.

Cameras

On the rear is a triple camera module headed by a 64MP main, 50MP ultrawide, and 50MP periscope telephoto lens. The periscope lens provides 3x optical zoom. A 32MP front camera handles selfies. Video recording tops out at 4K 60fps on front and rear cameras.

Battery and Connectivity

A large 5,100mAh battery keeps the phone powered throughout the day with support for incredibly fast 100W wired charging that can refill from 1-50% in just 11 minutes according to vivo. Rounding out the spec list are 5G connectivity, WiFi 6/6E, Bluetooth 5.4, dual-SIM support, NFC, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Early Verdict

On paper, the vivo X100s looks like an extremely capable flagship smartphone. With its powerful Dimensity 9300+ chip, impressive camera hardware, and premium 120Hz AMOLED display, it seems Vivo is targeting high-end performance. The only question remaining is the price – if vivo can keep costs competitive, the X100s could be a real contender when it launches in May 2024.
