vivo V30 SE Review: A Solid Mid-Ranger for Nigeria

Vivo, one of the leading smartphone brands in Africa, has recently launched its new mid-range smartphone – the V30 SE in Nigeria. Priced at around N150,000, does the V30 SE offer good value for money in the competitive Nigerian market? Here’s my review after using the phone for a week.

Design and Build

The V30 SE flaunts a slim and sleek unibody design with a glass front and plastic back. At just 7.8mm thick and 185g light, it feels very comfortable to hold. The back has a subtle leather texture that provides a premium look and feel without adding bulk. The phone is splash-resistant with an IP54 rating which is always a nice bonus for our unpredictable weather.

Display

The 6.67-inch AMOLED display is the star of the show. With Full HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 1800 nits of peak brightness, content pops with vibrant colors and smooth scrolling. The wide notch houses the selfie camera nicely. Outdoor visibility is excellent even under direct sunlight.

Performance

Powering the V30 SE is the mid-range Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset which provides smooth multitasking and gameplay. The 8GB RAM ensures apps open and switch quickly without problems. Even heavy 3D titles like Call of Duty run well with graphics set too high. 256GB storage is generous and there’s a microSD card slot too for further expansion.

Cameras

The triple rear camera setup with a 50MP main, 8MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro is capable of capturing good shots in various lighting. Photos come out with good detail and dynamic range. The 16MP front camera is also able to take sharp selfies. Video recording goes up to 1080p resolution at 30fps.

Battery Life

The 5000mAh battery delivers reliably long battery life. With moderate usage, the V30 SE easily lasts over 1.5 days on a single charge. The 44W fast charging tops it up to 50% in around 25 minutes which is great.

Conclusion

Priced at around N320,000, the vivo V30 SE offers excellent value for money in Nigeria. It has a beautiful AMOLED display, powerful mid-range chipset, good cameras, and long battery life – making it a solid option for multimedia consumption and gaming on a budget. Vivo’s ever-growing service network is also a big advantage. If you’re looking for a mid-ranger under N320k, the V30 SE deserves consideration.
