vivo G2 Review: Affordable 5G Phone with Long Battery Life
The vivo G2 was released in January 2024 as an affordable 5G-enabled smartphone aimed at users who want basic 5G functionality without breaking the bank. Here are the key specs and features of the vivo G2 based on my testing and research:
Design and Display
The vivo G2 has a plastic body with a 6.56-inch LCD screen with an HD+ resolution of 720×1612. While not the sharpest display, it gets decently bright at up to 840 nits. The thick bezels do date the design a bit but the side-mounted fingerprint sensor works well. At 186g, it’s a lightweight phone.
Performance
Powering the G2 is MediaTek’s Dimensity 6020 chipset with up to 8GB of RAM. This is an entry-level 5G chip and doesn’t offer flagship speeds but handles basic tasks smoothly in my use. Gaming performance is average but call and network connectivity were reliable.
Cameras
The single 13MP rear camera takes acceptable photos in good lighting but low-light shots are noisy. The 5MP front camera is basic but fine for video calls. Video recording maxes out at 1080p 30fps which is standard at this price point.
Battery
A huge standout is the 5000mAh battery which easily lasted over a day of normal usage on a single charge. Fast charging is only at 15W but the battery life makes up for slower charging times.
