Vivo iQOO Z9 (China) Review
A Powerful Flagship at an Affordable Price
Vivo recently launched its new flagship smartphone, the iQOO Z9, exclusively in China. After going hands-on with the device and reviewing the specs, I’m quite impressed with what Vivo has delivered at its price point.
Design and Build
The iQOO Z9 has a solid build quality and premium in-hand feel thanks to its aluminum frame and glass back. It has a large 6.78-inch AMOLED display with slim bezels and an in-display fingerprint sensor. At 163.7 x 75.9 x 8 mm and 194.6g, it’s slightly heavier than other phones but the weight is nicely balanced. It also has an IP rating for dust and water resistance.
Hardware and Performance
Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. This provides excellent performance for gaming and multitasking. The 144Hz AMOLED display is buttery smooth. Gaming performance is top-notch thanks to the Adreno 720 GPU. Battery life is outstanding with its 6000mAh battery supporting 80W fast charging.
Camera
The main camera duo consists of a 50MP wide and 2MP depth sensor. Video recording tops out at 4K 30fps. On the front is a 16MP selfie shooter. Photo and video quality seems good in my testing but lowlight capabilities could be better.
Software and Features
The Z9 runs Vivo’s OriginOS custom skin based on Android 14. It’s a cleaner interface compared to other skins. Additional features include dual stereo speakers, an infrared blaster, NFC, and the latest connectivity standards.
Pricing and Availability
Priced around 190 euros, the iQOO Z9 offers flagship-tier specs at a very affordable price. It seems like great value compared to competitors. While only available in China for now, I hope Vivo considers a wider international launch.
