vivo S18e Review: An Impressive Mid-Ranger With Fast Charging

vivo recently launched the S18e as a new mid-range smartphone option. Based on the specs and features, it seems like vivo has packed quite a lot into this phone at an affordable price point.

Design and Display

The S18e has a glass front and plastic frame/back design measuring 162.4 x 74.9 x 7.7mm and weighing 193g. It’s certainly not the lightest phone out there but still quite sleek. I love the 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display which supports a super smooth 120Hz refresh rate and gets very bright at up to 1800 nits. The screen takes up around 88% of the front and would be great for media consumption.

Performance and Hardware

Under the hood is the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset which should provide solid performance for everyday use and even some gaming. It’s paired with 8GB/12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The GPU and chipset combination should handle most tasks without any issues. Storage is also generous in the higher models.

Camera specs

For photos, the S18e has a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The single 16MP front camera should be good enough for selfies and video calls. While an ultrawide lens would have been better, the main 50MP sensor alone should take detailed shots.

Battery and Charging

A 4800mAh battery powers the phone which is a decent size nowadays. But the real highlight is 80W fast charging which can juice the battery up very quickly. Even just a few minutes on the charger provides hours of usage. This makes charging less of a hassle.

Verdict

Priced around 270 euros, the vivo S18e looks to offer a lot of value for money. The 120Hz AMOLED display, powerful Dimensity chipset, fast charging, and mid-range price make it an attractive option. The lack of an ultrawide camera is a slight downside but overall specifications seem well balanced for the cost. If you’re looking for a smoothly performing mid-ranger, the S18e is certainly worth considering.
