vivo Y200 (China) – An Impressive Mid-Range Contender

vivo recently announced their upcoming Y200 smartphone that will be exclusively available in China. Based on the specs revealed on GSM Arena, the vivo Y200 promises to be a very capable mid-range option.

Design and Display

The vivo Y200 sports a large 6.78-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a high 120Hz refresh rate. This should provide an extremely smooth experience when scrolling or gaming. The display also gets very bright, reaching 1300 nits at peak brightness. The device has a modern hole-punch design with slim bezels and measures only 7.6 mm thin. At around 187g, it also feels quite lightweight. vivo has included an IP64 dust and water resistance rating too.

Performance and Hardware

Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, which should provide solid performance for most tasks. Memory options include up to 12GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Sadly there is no microSD card slot for storage expansion. The 4,000mAh battery supports very fast 80W wired charging that can refill from 1-50% in just 24 minutes as claimed.

Cameras

The vivo Y200 sports a dual rear camera setup headlined by a 50MP main sensor. It also has a 2MP depth sensor for portraits. Selfies are handled by an 8MP front-facing camera. Both cameras can record video at 1080p resolution.

Software and Other Features

The vivo Y200 will ship with Android 14 and the company’s OriginOS 4 skin on top. Connectivity includes 5G, dual-SIM support, Bluetooth 5.1, WiFi 6, and more. It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner for security.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing has not been revealed yet but given the specs, the vivo Y200 should retail around 200 euros when it launches in China in late May 2024. Overall, for the price, the vivo Y200 is shaping up to be a very strong contender in the competitive mid-range segment. Its powerful hardware and large vibrant display should satisfy most users.
