vivo Y36i Review: A Budget-Friendly Smartphone With Long Battery Life
The vivo Y36i is a budget-oriented smartphone aimed at price-conscious consumers. Launched in December 2023, it joins Vivo’s Y-series of affordably priced phones.
Design and Display
The Y36i has a plastic body that feels relatively lightweight at 186g. It comes in Purple, Gold, and Black color options. The 6.56-inch LCD screen has a 720×1612 resolution and a high 90Hz refresh rate, making everyday usage and scrolling through feeds smooth. The display gets sufficiently bright at up to 840 nits.
Performance and Hardware
Under the hood is a modest MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset with 4GB of RAM. This configuration keeps costs low but is sufficient for basic tasks like messaging, social media, and light gaming. Storage is a generous 128GB which can be expanded further via the microSD card slot.
Cameras
The rear camera features a single 13MP main sensor. It’s basic but gets the job done for casual photography. Selfies are handled by a 5MP front camera. Video recording is limited to 1080p resolution at 30fps.
Battery Life
A key strength of the Y36i is its massive 5000mAh battery. Coupled with the power-efficient processor and display, vivo claims this can comfortably last over 2 days of regular use on a single charge. Refueling is via the 15W wired charging.
Verdict
Priced very affordably, the vivo Y36i makes an excellent entry-level smartphone choice. Its large battery, smooth display, and versatile hardware give good value for money. While performance and cameras won’t wow power users, it does the essentials well for basic mobile needs. If you’re on a budget, the Y36i is worth considering
