Vivo Y58 Review: A Budget-Friendly Mid-Ranger

Vivo recently launched its latest mid-range smartphone, the Y58, targeting budget-conscious consumers. With a price tag of Rs. 18,499 for the 128GB storage variant, does the vivo Y58 offer good value for money? Here’s our review after spending some hands-on time with the device.

Design and Display

The Y58 has a plastic frame sandwiched between glass front and back panels, giving it a premium look and feel. At 199g, it’s lighter for a phone with a 6.72-inch display. The screen is an IPS LCD panel with FHD+ resolution and a fast 120Hz refresh rate. Brightness levels go up to 1024 nits making content easily viewable even in sunlight.

Performance and Software

Powering the Y58 is the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset paired with 8GB RAM. In day-to-day use, I faced no lag or stutter when switching between apps or light gaming. The phone runs on Android 14 with Vivo’s Funtouch OS skin layered on top. The software experience was smooth and free of bloatware.

Cameras

The dual rear camera setup includes a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. Photos taken in good lighting conditions had plenty of detail with accurate colors. Low light performance was average. Selfies from the 8MP front camera were sharp. Video recording maxes out at 1080p resolution.

Battery Life

with a 6000mAh battery, the vivo Y58 easily lasted over a day of casual use on a single charge. The 44W fast charging support topped the battery up to about 70% within 30 minutes-a big plus.

Verdict

Priced at Rs. 18,499, the vivo Y58 offers a smooth performance along with good battery life and fast charging – making it a recommended option for those on a budget. The camera quality could be better for the price but overall the phone provides good value.
